Event History
In 2002 I approached the Parks and Recs with an  nutty Idea of creating a windsurfing event that would be jointly hosted by  the Parks  and Recs and Annapolis Wind. That first year we had a  small but stoked crew of about 20 folks who were mostly new to the sport make it out.

In 2003 with the help of Baltimore Area Boardsailing Association, Wet and USWA the CRWF was kicked up a notch and the beach was pretty darn busy.   The clinic was well attended and the races went on till the Parks and Recs took the boat away. In the end we barely missed mother natures closing ceremonies a grand thunderstorm.

In 2004 the third annual event was added to the Mid Atlantic race series and racers and guests from four states checked out the Chester River.  The day was good fun!. Thanks to all the who attended and helped make it happen!

In 2005 without the race crew there wasn't nearly as many smiling faces or sailing tips to be had but a great time was had by all who braved the bright day.

In 2006 the big winds actually shut down the fest...officially that is. There was plenty of windsurfing to be had for those who lingered longer. A great NON event it was with a after party at the Jetty to boot!

This year all I can say is .......  Spread the word lets make it a good one!

Where: Jackson Creek Public landing.
Take route 50 East approx. 6 miles past the Bay Bridge.
The landing is just behind Holly's restaurant on the left hand side of route 50.
No landing fee or pass needed the day of the event.

What's up Re Racing?
In years past the event has featured US Sailing sanctioned style races. This year any racing that might take place will be to quote the now famous Ausie line...
"No rules just right."  If there is an interest we'll set a course and throw an impromtu race clinic.

Intro to windsurf clinic:
Come as you are ... but please bring a pair of water shoes or old tennis shoes along. If you are one of those poor souls who I've heard say..." I tried windsurfing once... I kept pulling the giant sail out of the water then kept falling in until I was exhausted!"  Then it's time to try again. The sport has truly changed. With the  new wide boards and small trainer sails (we have some small enough for 5 year olds) almost anyone can learn to windsurf. OK you won't be ripping but you'll be standing and moving right along...the ripping comes later!

Fees: (Clinic only)
Since this is an official Parks and Recreation event there is a 15.00 clinic fee payable to the Queen Annes County Parks and Recreation. Fee includes drinks, snacks, use of several kayaks, and of course the windsurf clinic.
NOTE: No fees for Festival guests but a "drink donation" will be greatly appreciated if partaking in refreshments provided.

That's about it folks. I't's a party! The rest is up to you.
Hope to see you there!
